Wrong. Gastão did not train his son Carlos. He only had a couple of lessons. Maeda was his friend and worked as a fighter at his circus, so Gastão asked Maeda to train his son Carlos to try and teach the kid some discipline. Carlos trained under Maeda for 3 years. As for the pronunciation of George in Brazil: we speak Portuguese, not Spanish. The spanish "j" sound which comes from the Moors was not imparted to our language. We speak the G as an American would.

A curious history is that helio's first wife was infertile. so at the point that his brother carlos already had 10 sons he gave his 11th newborn son (rolls) to helio. But still not satisfied that he could not bare biological children helio had his wife's permission to get the housekeeper pregnant, having rorion and rickson born. This makes the legendary Rolls technically the son of Helio and Carlos plus the curiosity of Rickson and Rorion having had "3 mothers" in their lives.

The only thing BJJ wrestlers did better than Luta Livre wrestlers was marketing. I'm sure being rich and politically influential in Brazil had a lot to do with that. Luta Livre dominated Vale Tudo scenes from 1900s until 1960s yet there was very little "best martial arts"-promotion done on their part. All victories gained by Luta Livre wrestlers were portrayed as "personal victories", based on personal/exceptional characteristics. It wasn't until 1980s Jiu-jitsu camp started to have quality wrestlers; yet it was always loaded with full marketing campaigns across the board on how their victories were not due to any personal characteristics but "victory of Jiu-jitsu over other arts". This type of propaganda is still very much part of BJJ community even today.

  55. Kalle Pikku

    Kalle Pikku25 hari yang lalu

Dude, did you even read what I wrote up there, or you just decided to talk out your a*ss? You can't even name 2 vale tudo events where what you claimed happened before 1980s. The only events you know, are the ones Gracies marketed, after 1980s. I suggest you read old news articles before you make yourself look silly in front of everyone.

This is a very bias video and opinion toward BJJ or JuJuitau. I believed that if someone is gonna make a journalist attempt should be partial and truthful and obviously you're not. You failed to mention Rufino does Santos the catch wrestler that defeated the Gracies I'm Brazil and was hanged up by them later on, you missed the part were Rorion organize de 1st UFC tournament and cherry picked the competitors , rules and opponent therefore making it easier for Royce, you didn't mention the Dominance of Sakuraba over the Gracie Family in Japan even though again they manipulated the rules in their favor, you omitted the fact that Royce Gracie was suspended for using PEDS in the second Sakuraba fight that was the only way he could beat him in Royce turf he won by PEDS and *decision* how long had he been using prior to this, since UFC? I dont know just wondering, and I forgot a few more but these just came to mind. Do more research or be fair.
