The Green New Deal, explained

If you want to read about the Green New Deal in the lens of the 2020 election, I recommend this piece explaining Washington Gov. Jay Inslee’s proposal: Inslee has the most ambitious climate proposals; it is, as Vox's David Roberts writes, the Green New Deal translated into policy. For more from the rest of the 2020 democratic field, check out the Vox policy guide: - Alvin

Right wingers, the Green New Deal is a set of goals, not plans. Not legislation. There’s no realistic way of saying “it will cost $X” because it’s just goals. It wouldn’t ban air travel, or meat and it says absolutely nothing about tax rates. The republican politicians who are telling you these things are lying to you for their own purposes. You should stop listening to them.

Wind and solar only work when it is windy or sunny. We should go nuclear. And the biggest thing is we will be reliant on the government wich always fails. Is takes away so much freedom the thing that makes America great. And finally it would have verry little impact on global emmisions and it would possibly bankrupt America. America would fall apart

Who pays for it. The government? It’s running a trillion dollar deficit every year but you think they can still employ millions of people while destroying billions of dollars of industry. It’s going to bankrupt the country unless you reallocate finds away from all the social programs. But then loads of old people and poor people won’t have health care and old people won’t be getting any social security payments.

what people don't realize that America only admits 14.75% greenhouse gases. So if this deal were to be implemented, you are only looking at a .2 Celsius reduction. You see the catch with the green new deal is to have other countries follow suit. If we can't even afford it (without destroying multiple industries), what makes you think developing countries can ...

  20. John Smith

    John Smith18 jam yang lalu

Well all countries from Central America generate their energy through renewable sources. That’s because the governments from different countries put politics aside and decided to work together to do something good for the planet 🌎.

There is a scientific consensus that renewables are not viable, and most scientists see solar panels as worse than fossil fuels for climate change. I would be all for funneling money into something like ITER and reforestation though. China and India for example have achieved wonders simply by planting millions of trees completely offsetting their much worse greenhouse contributions. You'd literally get a hundred percent or better return on your investment just putting the money into that, than you would by attacking traditional fuel sources.

2 problems with this video: 1st, they skipped over the part of the story where the green party wrote the green new deal about a decade ago including a part about paying for it partially through demilitarization, and they have run presidential candidates on the promise of a green new deal. Since this democratic version was written you can find it called the ecosocialist green new deal. 2nd, they claim the dems will certainly implement it in 2020 if they win power, which is just proaganda. Much of the dems are still opposed to the gnd because they are owned by the corporations the gnd would destroy. Only a few dems would actually move this forward, whereas every Green has promised to work toward the gnd since its conception.
