I really appreciate the level of detail on the British side of things, but in Season 3 their representation of the White House interior -- I think what was supposed to be the Cabinet Room -- was almost hilariously bad. Probably for budget reasons, they didn't want to build a whole new set for just a few shots, but it was way off.

Fantastic eye for detail! I love the way they developed the aesthetics of the period, moving from the 50s to the 60s and beyond.

So interesting. I love the insights into the psychology of some of the choices, like isolating Margaret in the photo studio.

It's a shame about the gallery, the real one isn't full of portraits, it's full of Rembrandts and Vermeers, Dutch seascapes, Rubenses, etc.

And they couldn’t do that, other than building a massive set and having printed canvases, which look awful.

Thank you for that. Always fascinating to explore the creative minds, tremendous research and brilliant tricks folded into such a magnificent period series.

About 11 years ago, I took architecture on my parents’ & aunt’s strictly tall order (to align myself with the family business my grandfather left). It was so against my will because I wanted to take linguistics and psychology although I have been talented in making graphic arts and quick rough sketches. Given that, I still didn’t like the idea of staying up late for the rest of my life solving other people’s problems, dealing with numbers and dimensions. 🤢 However I carried on and eventually got my license as an architect. 11 years on, it’s become a love-hate relationship but I get to see now how artistic and in-depth this profession is. What I used to hate, math & measurements have become my language and I can’t have a conversation without being so precise so as to illustrate anything in terms of numbers and measurements. Scaling and what not. It’s unbelievable how architecture has transformed me for the better. And then this, hearing terms that I have long forgotten like enfilade, oh how nostalgic and artsy this thing is. Loving it now.

I feel you. I also have this love-hate relationship with architecture. I has transformed into something that I never was. And I love-hate it at the same time.

Crown is another league from Reign but from the same Monarchy.😅 Reign is a chic flit romance with the target audience~~younger generation unlike The Crown which is for serious & general public.👌

(StyleME) StyleBitsnBobs I’ve not seen Reign, I don’t usually watch any period dramas, but I loved The Crown. *I do highly recommend it as an entertaining series, even if you don’t think you love royalty* . Perfect casting, brilliant acting, fantastic stories.

For me royal or aristocratic films and tv shows always failed because they could never get the details right, the sets never looked good. The crown is a dream of a series for me. Everything looks real, expensive and believable. Just perfect. I will miss the actors who are going and I just hope the new ones get it right.

  43. bellz9113

    bellz9113Bulan Yang lalu

@Anna Filmmaker I think the poster was implying natalie Portman appearing as Jacqueline Kennedy who she played in her movie Jackie. I doubt this person was thinking Natalie Portman could play Queen Elizabeth the second. We know that would have been questionable per her performance as Anne Boleyn in the Other Boleyn girl. Although I dont know for sure because of that last sentence???

  44. Anna Filmmaker

    Anna FilmmakerTahun Yang lalu

Ainsley Ameerali : I admire Ms Portman’s work but as this is a quintessentially definitively British story I think Claire Foy was the perfect choice. I have seen lots of work and she is always amazing to watch. If you like “the Crown” check out the “Upstairs, Downstairs” sequel of about 10 years ago, which has Claire Foy as part of a stellar primarily British cast. Hope you enjoy x
