I gained a whole new level for Tom Cruise after learning that he learned how to HALO jump. I would have to fight such a strong urge to yell "woohoo!" After I fly flipping thru the air in a car.

5:00 Guys, I agree with your entire analysis here. The only problem is they didn't get clearance to HALO over Paris. Shocker... Therefore, the entire ground/earth/city is fake too. The only real thing is the jump, the camera and the in camera action. Absolutely no small thing, probably a first in cinema history. No small cookie. Most likely a ton of post in every frame. Guessing the clouds and thunderstorms were meant to obscure this. Yet, like you said, it all looks fake cause they shot for the moon. Compare 1968's 2001. Know your limits.

Have a look at this scene from The Peacemaker (at 4:48) idreporter.net/v/video-yv1x3xuT1t0.html I have always thought that this stunt guy came inches from death filming that scent, but the director worked it in and had Clooney to a roll that matched the stunt guys, which gave the whole scene a little more realism (after several minutes of Bond-level unrealism in the fight).

The reason with the Mission Impossible skydive scene being at night, is because they are infiltrating an area, so they cant be seen. Lightning was added for the plot point of knocking Henry Cavill out.

The reason behind the CGI clouds is to portray the element of speed. If you have no point of reference it will look like it's going slow (since the camera is traveling at the same speed.)

Another note about the james bond motorcycle jump to get onto the plane. The plane was already in so steep of a dive, that there's no possible way that he would've been able to pull out of that before hitting something. That dive looked WAY too steep in the first part of that stunt.
