Thank you for the rundown.,as it happens, I won't be watching the rest of the series because I can't afford to buy into a streaming network which will be carrying a Whole shipload of other programs that I don't want to watch any time. But thus time, those other people with the same sentiments have gotten the first episode FREE on you tube. I loved it, it was wonderful and it made the years between re connecting to Picard and real Star Treks,,melt away. As it happens,,also, I had no trouble in following this meshed together episode of different times, events and realities. Guess I've been properly trained.

If you remember, Voyager had run-ins several times with "synthetics" running amuck. In one episode they tried to "free" the doctor. There was also a time they had to travel through an area of space where "synthetics" were banned and they had to hide the doctor, 7of9 and others in a transporter loop whenever the locals did a surprise inspection of the ship. I'm sure they'll be working these storylines into the series.

No, I did not like the new series. It made absolutely no sense. Captain Jean-Luc Picard, as portrayed in Star Trek: The Next Generation, was an inspiring leader, a devoutly moral human being, an explorer, a scientist, a diplomat, a poet, and negotiator who eventually became an admiral. His mission to rescue Romulan refugees suffered one setback with the attack on Mars. So, the Federation suddenly is unable to continue the rescue effort because it costs too much to rebuild. So, you expect me to believe that Admiral Picard is just going to give up after ONE setback, throw in the towel, and quit? That he’s just going to give up and sulk, like some pathetic washout? You mean to tell me that the legendary explorer is not going to explore other possible options for achieving his goals? That the famous diplomat and negotiator isn’t even going to bother to consider running for an elected political office, in order to influence financial funding, immigration policy, or to inspire people to strive for personal improvement by volunteering to work the mines of Janus 4 or rebuild the shipyards? It is ridiculous and makes absolutely no sense. Not buyin’ it. CBS All-Access dumpster fire #2.

  9. Travis W

    Travis W20 hari yang lalu

They Luke Skywalkered Jean-Luc Picard, and turned a fundamentally positive and hopeful character into a depressive and pathetic washout.

I definitely feel that Picard started out allot better than Discovery did. I do like the first two episodes thus far. However I do have at least a couple of concerns of which I will only address one here. Use of the word "Synths" and Synthetic's seems to suggest the writers are in some way copying Fallout 4. Cybernetic or Cybernetic Life forms was the term mostly and originally used on TNG. .

    11B Retired21 hari yang lalu

Here is a stupid question to ask.... The Romulans knew that a nearby star is going supernova right? So you're telling me that the time the Romulan Empire had could not use their large fleet and / or built transports for some or most of their people to evacuate? The Picard story-line is very weak and stupid.

I don't mind the smarmy nods and winks but it really gives me the heebie jeebies to hear this guy, and pretty much every IDreporter channel host, talk as fast as possible from start to finish, as if this is a good thing. As if people equate number of words per second with quality of content. Yet another ubiquitously bad idea that refuses to die.

When the trailers for this were first being dissected, everyone thought the girl was going to be Picard's daughter. I think I might have been the only one that called it as Data's daughter. Mind you, my theory on why might have been way off, but I did say she was Data's. It just made more sense to me (I'm weird that way).

7:36 Riker. I absolutely LOVED the first episode. Had me on the edge of my seat. TNG has always been my favourite of the shows and Data was *always* my favourite character. I can't wait for more. Btw, I think most people have forgotten about the episode Inheritance (season 7). It makes the idea of a synthetic being who could pass as human - and had no idea they were synthetic - believable.

  29. Ame Masutomi

    Ame Masutomi25 hari yang lalu

I'm wondering if you caught the flash of Robin Curtis as Lt. Saavik, from Star Trek III The Search For Spock, at 44:30? She seems to be sporting some remnant Borg implants on her face and I think she's accusing Hugh or Soji with "You are the destroyer!" Also, at 44:50 you can see someone solving what looks like a wooden Rubik's Cube (possibly a nod to the inventor Erno Rubik who is a professor of architecture), which the toy company Ideal started selling in 1979, which is the year that Star Trek: The Motion Picture (ST:TMP) premiered. That Rubik's cube could be a cryptix that hides some important piece of information/clue/tech/neuron in stasis/etc. Lastly, it has been retconned that V'ger in ST:TMP was a sentient synthetic construct that converted Lt. Ilia in an organic android programmed to analyze the crew and their function, which could be connected to Dahj/Soji's origin/character.

Did you even explain the ending? Booooooo. Anyway, this episode (hopefully not series) is Anti-Roddenberry. What about Gene's vision of Star Trek being an example of how good mankind can be and a positive future? This is more about our current President, to heck with immigrants, we only care about humans. What is that? And what about the UNITED Federation of planets who is full of aliens and where the president is mostly portrayed by an alien? Is this series saying that Earth and the UFP turned it's back on millions of innocent life because Earth viewed Romulans as their main enemy? I know Star Trek has always tackled difficult topics (unlike the series that is on your shirt) but not to this genocide story extent. And when did Picard have such a man crush on Data? I know he liked him but never his best friend, that was Geordi or Yar. Not like he should dream of Data every night. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing Picard, with all of it's flaws. I hope it explains things better in future episodes. And doesn't turn into Discovery Season 2.

cant help but notice you missed the following.. the song at the space flying towards the Enterprise D was a nod to when Riker and Troi got married as Data was singing one of their songs. and the fact that its on the Galaxy class 1701 D the poker game was a bit of how TNG all good things ended with him playing poker with his crew, and futher more it is due to the fact its on 1701 D and not E is just this fact sorry but its true.... 1701 D and Data are very speical to him and a key point of picards life. you call the attack on mars and picards choice to leave crappy i also would like to point out the following facts as seen in other star treks. star trek 6 KIRK: We volunteered? SPOCK: There's an old Vulcan proverb. 'Only Nixon could go to China.' KIRK: How could you vouch for me? That's ...arrogant presumption. SPOCK: My father requested that I open negotia... KIRK: I know your father's the Vulcan Ambassador for heaven's sake, but you know how I feel about this. They're animals! SPOCK: Jim, there is an historic opportunity here. KIRK: Don't believe them! Don't trust them! SPOCK: They are dying. KIRK: Let them die! Has it occurred to you that this crew is due to stand down in three months? We've done our bit for King and Country. You should have trusted me. if you know star trek then you would know thats about the klingons, And Starfleet has ignored the rules and the regulations when they got in the way Star Trek 9 Insurrection leaps the mind and not to mention DS9 and Ben Sisco. there is also the fact that the romulans blame starfleet for hobus as seen by Neros actions a rather disturbed romulan, and the other point is when your enimeies with someone for soo long its hard to trust them. for them who want to find the episode in question where data makes a daughter its season 3 episode 16.. and for once you sort of got right but also fail to metion that his daughter was also transfered to his data banks. why did you fail to mention that? really datas stupider brother? thats hardly a trek thing to say what you should tell people is that it was a proto type before Lore and Data.. finding it very hard to beleive you are a trekkie at this point with all the data you have missed. due to the fact of how you carry on that about B-4.... for a so called trekkie i expected you to go in to more detail to help the new fan but i shall resvere my thoughts and sharing them with you till you prove that you are one of us. this is not a bad thing just pointing out areas you missed or did not know about and its hardly hard to do for a trekkie.

“Measure of a Man” where Data goes on trial to prove his worth as a sentient being is Marina Sirtis’s (Deanna Troi) favorite episode. She called it a quintessentially Star Trek episode.
