There are actually scientists working on ways to try and get power from ocean waves, which could get some of the energy from hurricanes. Not all of it. But some.

true but what if the chernobyl accident happened in the middle of a hurricane? or we could build some sort of wind farm for the largest green energy facility/facilities that could harness the power of hurricanes and if we could how strong and tied to the ground would the "wind turbines" be?

Correction. Space is ONLY cold if you're behind something that blocks the sun. If you're in space and the sun light hits you without being filtered, you fry and indeed be very hot. Earth itself is not burning up thanks to the ozone layer. So space itself is neither hot not cold. It really depends on where you are. Science fact.

The self driving car is actually not that great of an invention. It is very impractical. Many people view it as a threat to their livelihood, to the point that they basically have been rioting about it for the last year. There are far too many cab drivers, delivery drivers that this technology is just not feasable. Basically everyone I know is either a cab driver or pizza delivery person. This one friend of mine actually has a PHD..which is totally useless since he now drives a cab full time..There are high end food chains and low end food chains. The little mom and pop pizza shoppe is not going to dump money into a self driving car. Scientists keep talking about crap like this, self driving cars, putting our brains inside computers, robots doing all the work..and yet, they fail to take into account the effects this would have on us socially, economically , spiritually and physically. If all the work on the face of the planet was done by robots, we cured every disease known to exist, and basically lived in a VR planet..the majority of us would probably kill ourselves due to depression, loneliness and over all cabin fever. To me, the self driving car is basically just one of those useless inventions that, despite being pretty safe, will impact the life of the average person in a negative way and cause more harm than good. You also have what I like to call the retro factor..Ie, you can make all the fancy new technology in the world you want, but most people will dismiss it due to wanting to use the same thing they used all their life. We see this, oddly enough, with cars, but also with video games, computers, and basically everything. Technology like this will never advance beyond the testing stage until society is ready for it, economically and socially. A big example of this would be gas.. you can make all the alternative fuel sources you want..but gas is just too much of a power player. Whole entire civilizations would collapse, wars would be fought..people would die in said wars, people's jobs would be lost..millions of people in north america alone..job less as the only source of money they have comes from the oil industry.. plant beef. Ya, it tastes like beef, you can't tell the difference..but no one is going to care. No one is going to go on an all plant bacon diet willingly. No one will toss out their burgers just because cows are polluting the ozone layer with their farts. Even if it tastes the same, feels the same and is healthier, most people are not going to want it..How long have condoms been out. What's the number one excuse for not wearing one? "it doesn't feel the same". That's what it all boils down to. stuff like that will take at least 2 or 3 generations if not more to phase out. Trying to ween us off gas and giving us self driving cars will only cause trouble for the average person. So, in all honesty, self driving cars are at least another 100 years away..if they even take off. The work scientists have been doing using organic 3d printers would have been a better answer..the precursor to the replicator basically. But I guess Mitsubishi, toyota, or whomever is funding you. Anyway, come down here to canada and tell basicaly every 3rd person you see about self driving cars..ya..that will go over well..and those are just the people with jobs. Or just continue to live in your la la land where the economy is amazing and inflation is not increasing by about %5 a month, where jobs abound and homelessness, racism, sexism and violence is on the decline.. sorry, love your show, but social/economic matters don't seem to be something you are too versed in.

What about the winds generated in the blast wave created by such an explosion though, the strongest side of a hurricane with the highest windspeeds is the northeast edge (in atlantic cyclones) do you think the wind sheer created by the blast wave could weaken a hurricane I mean the concussive blast alone can be about half of the energy released from such an explosion and can produce massivly high wind speeds that can exeed 1000 km/h and hurricanes usually get weakened by high wind sheer I wonder if of a high yield explosive when particulary position could produce the wind speeds nessecary to disrupt the hurricanes natural rotation of high altitude clouds that typically rely on low wind sheer to fully develop, thus weakening the hurricane. I do understand that in order to have anymore than a miniscule effect it would have to be a large nuclear detonation. But I wonder why you didnt use the tsar bomba as an example of the strongest nuke sure it is expensive and impracticle but the Russian did create a working 50 megaton bomb. Just a thought tho lol it may be pretty stupid.

For someone who does a lot of research you didn't on this. I really like your videos. I hate it when there is even a hint of politics though. I don't watch for that. But since your tone was easy to read, let me clue you in. The "sources" say the POTUS said this in a private meeting with high ranking officials and our defense and emergency officials. He never suggested it either... according to these same "sources", he asked if it would work if it happened thousands of miles off coast in the Atlantic. Hell, I didn't know it wouldnt work. I assume most people wouldnt know the answere. So calm down on showing your political allegiance. Its not why I watch. Honestly... you've got a massive cat. 5 hurricane a few hundred miles out in the Atlantic, or maybe its just forming over by Africa... you have the chance to stop any destruction and loss of life... is it really the worst thing thst he asked if it would work?

I read somewhere (I think it was a ripley's book) that many tall buildings used to try to do that... They would have huge copper rods go in to clouds and the goal was that when struck by lightning the base of these poles went into massive capacitor banks... I think this idea failed when a few too many capacitors blew up.

Trump made those comments to ferret out leakers in his administration. It's a common intelligence technique; Make a wild statement among a small group of people, do NOT repeat the statement, if it is made public you know one of the people who were present is leaking info. The original reports stated that trump made the comments as a meeting in his office was ending and people were leaving. Just a few days after the Hurricane Nuke kerfuffle came out in the press, Madeleine Westerhout "resigned". She was a personal assistant to POTUS and her desk was physically right next to the door of his office. You may not like him, but never assume Trump is stupid.

On the question of Scifi tech we're are close to having: I'd say railguns. Technically we can and have produced working prototypes, but specifically we were very close to having railguns mounted on futuristic battleships. Then Congress cut the funding. You can look it up. There were like 3 of these super battleships that were to be produced.
