Great vlog format! I found it very enjoyable and I love your editing and stylistic choices :) Did you guys have a lot of problems with autofocus on the 18mm? Just wondering if the AF is reliable enough for it to be a good vlogging lens.

That was an auto white balance issue that I didn’t correct 🥺

@Elise & Aaron By the way, did you guys ever figure out a good way to get rid of the blue cast on photos and videos?

Hi Timothy! Thanks for watching. I think the 18 is definitely good enough for vlogging. It’s not 100% reliable but for the light weight and decent af we are happy to have it here with us in Japan rn 🤩

Both Samyang 18mm & 45mm lens support Sony's eye AF, face detection and Sony a7iii's lens compensation?

It’s not perfect but it does work. Similar performance to the Tamron 28-75

I'd like to see more of the 18mm, under the day light.

It’s funny you should say that because we just filmed a noon sun/golden hr 18mm / 45mm Samyang showcase that we are editing now. Stay tuned Orio 🤞🤙👍

Great vid. I have an a7iii with a tamron 28-75 and a 70-200 gmaster. Need to try and go into a shop to try the samyang 18mm on and then see if the tamron 17-28 is a better buy for the wide angle lens I need. Question I wanted to ask was are they presets you use whith the photos in this video? If so, what ones or are they your own custom made? They look very cool😎.

Thank you for your comment! We have both lenses and if light weight and low cost is a priority go for the 18mm. For a bit better quality and versatility go for the 17-28. I dont use presets or artistic luts on video or photo. I will eventually make a video on how I edit so stay tuned ☺️

The giant tree with the lights at 4:44 is sooooo beautiful and magical 😍 swirly bokeh looked amazing! Both lenses seemed great. I already have a 55mm but I would like to pick up the 18 at some point.

Yeh that lit tree is a gem hey 🤙 Happy you liked Andy. The 55mm is brilliant too. Loving the 18mm even though it very not perfect 👍

Nice footage guys! Were you guys using the crane m2 or weebill lab for this one?

  19. James McCaul

    James McCaul18 hari yang lalu

Elise & Aaron hahaha yeahhh ive been thinking the same thing! Just filmed some events the other week with the weebill lab and wasn’t too bad but I was using apsc cameras and lenses, def helps if you have some sort of stabilisation in the camera or lens but overall I was happy with the footage, I have a trip coming up in December to go to the Canadian Rockies, currently debating whether I bring the weebill or the crane m2 😕

  20. Elise & Aaron

    Elise & AaronBulan Yang lalu

Sorry James I need to get over it. The new weebill S looks absolutely orsm, I would order one but have a bad taste in my mouth and honestly trying to keep the weight down and just use small lenses with the Crane M2. Maybe I’ll change my mind one day.

  21. Elise & Aaron

    Elise & AaronBulan Yang lalu

Please don’t mention Weebill anything atm #triggered 😅

A whole vlog of beautiful A7III night footage, just lovely:) Once I get my 1 camera 1 lens setup I may put Australia at the top of my list of places to visit. Some beautiful cities over there...not digging the spider pics i've seen but the cities are great lol. A7III with the Tamron 17-28mm should make a nice all around kit for me tho, but this 45mm may make a good bokeh prime on the side for those beauty shots. Oh and those Phantom LUTs that look like Arri footage, dying to try those LUTs on the A7III stuff I shoot, love me some Arri colors:)

Jordan you will love the a7iii! The Tamron 17-28 + 28-75 would be a perfect combo. Samyang 45mm is a boutique lens... it might be good a a third lens? Just my opinion. It’s great to have so many options for the E-mount

Hey, thanks for the showcase. Which lens with that bad AF at around 7:10? Do you think it is bad copy or that is just how bad that lens AF. Thank you.

  30. Elise & Aaron

    Elise & AaronBulan Yang lalu

I like the 18mm + 45mm combo better. Lighter and more versatile but the Tamron is a great lens 👌

  31. SASTRA

    SASTRABulan Yang lalu

I am also thinking the same combi 18 and 45 with peak design lenskit for run gun situation. But atm really thinking for 17-28 as well. Thanks again for video and thx to u too KiloFit.

  32. Elise & Aaron

    Elise & AaronBulan Yang lalu

You’re welcome! It was the 18mm. It doesn’t happen often and KiloFit is completely right, it’s low light issues. We love shooting at night but it’s definitely not a deal breaker. You have have to bit a bit thoughtful on where you shoot. The Tamron 17-28 is better but at almost 4x the weight we cant use it on the Crane M2 gimbal

  33. KiloFit

    KiloFitBulan Yang lalu

I’m thinking it was struggling to focus because of the very low light conditions

Some people don't like that swirly bokeh look but it adds quite a bit of character to the shot. Great video as always!

Thank you Alex. I love round and anamorphic bokeh too. Don’t have the latter ...yet 🤓
