My i7-2700K and now my i5-4690K both ran and run at 4.7 GHz on Air and hardly ever been off. I always leave it on, besides when I am not home for longer than a day. Perfectly stable. On an ASUS Maximus Board in a Thermaltake Core V1 and now a V21.

Whilst the power supply detail you provided were true it still makes no sense going so big. A single CPU, single GPU rig uses about 300w - 400w loaded witc which is outside the 50% - 70% efficiency window of just about any 1kw PSU under load and far far outside it at idle. That sort of load would be a better fit for a 600w PSU.

Can you please pick up the 'the eye can't see more than 30 fps' bullshit people are still repeating over and over again? There are actually people defending the all so common 30 fps cap on consoles. I know people might find 30 fps sufficient but I think it could be a good video showing the huge differences with fast movements on different fps, maybe recording in slow motion, to easily and plausibly explain how more fps result in more information that the eye will always recognize. I think it's a nobrainer but I see a lot of people argue about this. I don't think anyone playing on a 144hz strobe light monitor can ever go back even to 60hz. You could also compare different display technologies and how they affect the image and our perception of it (like persistence vs non persistence), you could talk about the history of displays, as you also experienced the change from crt to tft. I think the topic has a lot of potential for a big video. You can also explain why 24fps in video is different from 24 fps in a game...

I don't get this video. the only one of these myths that kinda makes sense is the last one, nobody who has the knowledge to even get to the configuration settings on a pc would think any of these is true, and none of those people are smart enough or would care enough to look this up.

That myth about leaving PCs on all day is based on very old computers where turning them off and on sometimes caused surges in the main board back in the days of AT. Some cheaper AT computers didn’t handle lots plot power cycles well. Ask me how I know that...

When you power a system on and it breaks a component is commonly known as system shock, componet is cold you hit it with power which causes a heat spike due to the component may already have asome lower quality parts in it causes the system to fail. We perfromed this test whilst at university whilst I was doing my Micro Electrical Engineering degree. And it's not just computers that get system shock.

When people say adding ram makes their computer faster, it's because their going from single channel to dual channel when they get a computer that only has one slot filled and they fill more. You can get rid of data to the point that it can't be recovered by encrypting the drive and wiping it if you want to keep it on for up to a couple weeks. People destroy them because they don't want to spend weeks wiping them and don't intend to resell them. Solid state drives dying faster then hard drives is not a myth. There's hard drives that lat over 30 years while solid state drives only last about 5 - 10 years when hard drives don't have the limit of write cycles that solid state drives have. The gap would only close with drives that experience abuse and are misused. Cables messing up air flow was also a thing back when people used IDE cables and didn't manage them properly witch I've also experienced back when I didn't have much of a choice on what to use because of my budget and had not enough room to manage the cables but that's not a problem, anymore with Sata. You'd have to test it with that generation of hardware to prove it was a problem at one time.

The most irritating myth: PCs are more expensive than console gaming. I have consoles, I got a PC, if ya like one more than the other that's fine. But straight up, PC gaming is cheaper. My PC is 6-7 years old and it still plays the latest games, it also plays the older games from 'last gen' and the one before that. You don't buy a new PC and then suddenly your gaming library becomes unusable. You're not also buying remastered games because generally they're the PC version tweaked anyway for console. So no mid gen/next gen upgrades, your accessories are going to keep working with whatever hardware, you have more accessory choice and variety to boot. Want to use old Genesis controllers on your PC? A PS3 controller? 360? XB1? 8BitDo? Switch? Go nuts. It's also super easy to game on a TV or wherever. My desktop is a work machine, it's for gaming, it streams media to my TV & uses the sound system there for the different sound. PC getting a bit slow/game is running worse? Turn some settings down, OC a part or upgrade a part. Vs with a console and having to just deal with poor performance. Also, mid gen console upgrades, oh boy. My PS3 still gets used and they never did a direct upgrade (if anything after the launch models got worse in terms of features) now if you got a launch PS4 for $500 then upgraded to a PSPro? Yeah, that'd have been a nice PC. Also if something breaks? Replace it vs the whole, unit. It's so easy to have a centralized set up. I turn on my TV, turn the receiver to the PC and my PC instantly makes that the main monitor/sound and I'm gaming over there now. Is a PC more expensive? Yes, the initial start up cost is high, but given the above? It's cheaper in the long run if you do things smart. The myth persists because of shortsightedness. That initial cost is so high but then after that it's fine. Consoles are fine, I don't play much of the new home consoles but the Switch has been great.

Didn't you and Linus Tech Tips test the water cooling vs. air cooling myth? And didn't you both figure out water cooling isn't any better than fans w/ a good heat sink? In fact, didn't you both find out that fans cool the CPU better than water coolers? Or did I mis-interpret the conclusions? Would be nice for a computer amateur like me to see a video on how to overclock the CPU and GPU.

For the ram making the PC faster. What people often means is that if you don't have enough ram and do a lot of multitasking. You might reach a point where the amount of ram is not plenty enough to keep all the applications running. Sure, the OS will do all it can to still find the required memory via various methods.... But as anybody who experienced that issue... it is just not as good as simply adding ram. It's more about not locking up due to the lack of ram than the actual speed. It pretty much is a good example where people are simply not calling things the way they are. Myself I am often guilty of that. As a guideline for myself, most people can do very well with 4gb of ram. Those doing only word processing and very low ressource intensive tasks can even get away with 2-3gb. Personally? With all the kind of crap I pile on at the same time. If I do not have at least 6gb... I will go insane fast. Only reason the computer I am using RIGHT now is only having 4gb ram is because even if I bothered upgrading the ram... Id still have issues with the CPU bottlenecking the whole thing.

sorry, but your just confusing people....i.e. back when i owned a 286/386 (dos) PC it ran incredibly warm, which in turn heated up my room...more RAM will speed up your computer, once the software loades into memory, it will run at the speed of the RAM, which is much faster than the hard drive! ect ect same as using a SSD to boot from instead of a hard drive, will speed up your PC..

just a heads up, the hibersysfile isnt the pagefile. the hibersysfile is the file the system uses to enable, on where you left off features. ie hibernation. the pagefile is used as a disk buffer for running programs while the pc is on and in general use.

Can you actually download more RAM? Since the question has come up, I’ll answer it. You cannot actually download RAM, just like you can’t download a second monitor. You cannot download more of this stuff. The only way to add more RAM to your computer is to plug an appropriate board and install ram cards, 3:20 he lied

Late comment and it would a pleasure to get a response.. By you saying "upgrading around the 5 year mark".. does it mean that your components are dying and become not really usable or can they still actually run just as well in 5 years.. Actually.. What would be the longest lasting components in a pc?

  51. Collin McRae

    Collin McRae4 hari yang lalu

McYeetson He’s saying that most pc gamers would want to upgrade within 5 years. As long as your parts are quality, and you treat your machine right, unless you have an unfortunate meltdown, your compute should mostly operate fine for as much as 10 years

Myths: - "Disabling Superfetch is good idea." No it's not. It is vital system services that actually helps caching parts of most used apps over time for faster startup and less I/O load. Even on SSDs there are benefits, but not as much as on HDDs. - "Using random scripts from Internet will boost your PC speed". No. Using crap software and scripts from scriptkiddies mostly will break parts of OS, causing issues when running programs, games, and updates. I've seen not one case where running "anti-spy" scripts on Windows 10 almost completely broke OS after a while.

"pc is more expensive then console for gaming" maybe true for the first month, paying for online, paying more per game (especially if your not in the usa where a game like binding of isaac is 399 on ps4 and 105 zar on steam for the same no-dlc game) so really pc is cheaper in the long run, consoles are only generally cheaper initially.
