My Path into Physics (at MIT)

I didn’t get into science and maths until after I finished school. I assume it was because of my teachers. All 4 teachers I had for science and maths were so unenthusiastic, cold and mean. It ruined it for me. I just hope that I can learn STEM in my own time before making my decision on going to university shortly.

My high school physics teacher made it fun and enjoyable, which is why despite enrolling as a math major, I took a lot of physics beyond the 3 semesters required of me, including an observational astronomy class. That degree was supposed to be a means to a different end which never got realized. I joined the USAF, worked in electronics, then got out and continued in the same line of work and went back to school for electrical engineering, the field in which I'm now working. I still have a love for physics, though, and that's why I decided to check out (and then subscribe to) this channel. Thanks for the great work, Physics Girl!

I was never thrilled about Physics in High School -and neither at the start of my college years, until an electromagnetic moment. While taking a PHY Lab course, my team didn’t do pretty good during a presentation, but I was determined to get a better grade. I asked the professor if I could have another try, maybe with a different experiment, although at that split second I don’t know what or how. Thinking I was opting for something easy, I mentioned an electric guitar pickup, and how it converts the movement of the string(s) into an electrical signal that can be amplified. She nodded quietly, and said “go on” with curious tilt of her head. For the first time in that class I was passionate about explaining something I loved, and that turned into a phenomena in itself. Also a grade bump too. From your Dominican fan, número uno!

I got a physics degree from a much smaller university, and I ended up making the same decision to go into electrical engineering with a physics background. I have never really been able to land a job that I really wanted, I work with circuit boards and I use physics sometimes, but that's about it. Every time I go for a job that is more advanced than the micro level, they deny me. Whenever I look at a job I want and see who is working there, they are always PHD's from the big name schools. I know I am capable, I know a lot about electrical engineering and physics, but not having a big name school on my resume seems to have stopped me from doing anything REALLY important.

Music and science go together. My college orchestra was about 1/3 science/math majors, at a college that was more oriented toward History majors. Excellent orchestra, excellent players. A fellow physics major played the (classical) organ.

I really love physics and how it approach problems and solve it.. but I'm uncertain about switching to it as a major (I'm currently a freshman in chemistry) the thing is.. I'm totally lost cuz chemistry fulfills the projects I wanna create. but it doesn't spark that intense happiness physics does . I've thought about continuing on my current major then take physic chem. but idk I feel stuck :( there's no one around me that I can talk to at the same level of understanding.. I remember when I told my sis(she is a math major) I wanna do physics and she kinda freaked out, saying it's harder than math and that I should re consider..

I have a physics degree from MIT. It turned out to be not all that interesting. So much for the School of Science. Fortunately, I did two simultaneous majors, the other in the School of Engineering, and that one was a lot more worthwhile.

Like a lot of events, luck has a lot to do with the event being realized. With that being said I feel luck was with me when I stumbled on your channel by accident. I love your interest in the sciences and your sharing the notion that science is fabulously fun. I have a graduate degree in pure mathematics where most of it came out of UAlbany. What I would like to see may never occur, but I can always hope. What do I mean? I became disabled in 1991 and at that time I had worked in the construction industry. Only after I was well enough 10 years later did I start from scratch as a 42 year old freshman and 8 years later exit with a graduate degree in pure mathematics that focused on probability theory. The rub is, I was never able to really use it. So, what I hope for is that people realize that there is talent available to be mined that does not fit the typical 8 to 5 workday and take advantage of it. I think this could only lead to a win/win or perhaps that is just my biased wishful thinking. None the less, Best Wishes and have fun. If you have fun its never really work, is it?

If I ever had the chance to go to school, it would definitely be MIT! Every time you see something impressive in the nerd news, MIT had something to do with it. They do so much and so well. Great minds! Unfortunately, I had to jump into the working world right away. It's cool, though. Ended up with my own business, so I got that going for me, LOL. Plus, I've got all these awesome videos to learn from! 😉

Epstein as a college drop out funded Hawkings. One scam artist to the next. He also funded quantum computing. This is also a blabbering scam. Modern Physics is explaining less and less and creating more and more fancy words. Is modern Physics desperate? They need Epsteins to survive. They now create fake pictures to prop their fancy word nonsense. Modern physics is starting to sound like a clown show. The best addition to the standard model on light is in Lesseirg papers @ and the mischief of black holes @
