Life As A Refugee Stranded In Indonesia | ASIAN BOSS

To relieve them from the long limbo, the refugees should be moved to wealthy countries that are also signatories of the 1951 UN Refugee Convention. I propose that South Korea accept them. As a non-signatory to the UN Refugee Convention, Indonesia is not treaty-bound to host these people nor provide for them. It has no responsibility over these people whatsoever. Moreover, Indonesia is a developing country with a lot of its own poor. It would be asinine for the state to spend its meager resources on these illegal immigrants over its own poor who are living on far less comforts than what has been afforded to these illegal immigrants. There is no way to justify such spending. Hence, a wealthy signatory of the UN Refugee Convention like South Korea should accept them.

The unique way to solve the mass migration is by helping the poor countries from where the refugees come from. Taking them is only a short-term solution.

Oke lah kita sebagai warga Indonesia ngerti kondisi mereka, emang si agak kasian. Tpi ya jgn jelekin negara orang jg kali.

Refugee people did not flee their country luck of money some of them were rich they run their own country because of danger and threatening in their life, so the question is if they had money why are they looking for shelter and food, this is because most of them run out their money and for those who had still the money are worrying about the future and how many more years they will spent here (Indonesia) again. In here they are transit and one day they will reach their final destination like Australia, Canada, America and New Zealand. As far as I know most Indonesians are very respectful people but refugee are strange to them and they don't have any clue. For those who know what is it meant to be refugee may never commented here negative thing.

Sorry i don't want hurt your feeling, but you better face reality and get another solution rather than wait for decade become oldman or might be die here because never be resettled

Food and shelter are not important even though it's basic needs but moving here

I live in Daan Mogot Baru, the residential complex refusing to accept them. Personally at first I feel pity for them, because they must move from their beloved country to other places. But when I know about their condition, such as: 1. Some of them get to come to Indonesia via illegal route. I know about this myself because my friend colleague is the person handing back door for smuggle them. And they pay lots of money 2. They get pocket money for living in Indonesia. Even though their business still running back in their country and even some try to expand thier business to Indonesia and buy property/land here. Btw my mom met a person which own a property near my home, because he’s trying to buy and fill his new property. He even tell my mom, he owns the property so he can run and have meeting for his business and make it into his office here in Indonesia. 3. I can’t say we marginalized them, because even my own church community and some other try to help them, by sending some food or other. But once (and most of the time) they don’t act greatful and don’t like it and just dump it to the trash bin. I also would say we don’t differenciate them, even they can go to collage and my neighbour chat with a father with graduated child in Indonesia. 4. They don’t act greatful and seems to taking advantage of our kindness. Just like asking some store owner to charge their phone and some other condition. 5. If you say they are isolated. I don’t think so. Because they have communication devices and the have their own free will and freedom to walk around and buy stuffs. And the reality why we, the resident of Daan Mogot Baru residential complex refusing them is because they really located and living in the place not purpose fully for living. The place only have limited bathroom, if I’m not mistaken around 3/4. Right next to the location the refugees living is a school, so it’s not the best and ideal place for living. That’s why we oppose them P. S.: just this afternoon the refugees in my area are rioting between each other and I heard even some police having great injury such as losing their hand/arm (I haven’t got more info)
