Music theory is so ridiculously contrived every time I attempt to learn a different aspect I'm bewildered at how irrationally put together most of this stuff is. Why would the bass and treble not simply sequence the notes in exactly the same way?

Why does none of these tutorials explain what it means when notes are connected via straight or curved lines?

  19. ice maiden

    ice maiden5 bulan yang lalu

From what I can remember, it connects the notes to one beat. Example, two notes connected by a line are half of their original count. So if each note was a count of 1, the connected notes are half count each. Hope that makes sense ....

@Asena S And for us, it was "fruit". Clearly we were ahead of our time, health-wise. ;-) For the bass clef, we would use: "Good Boys Deserve Fruit Always", but that always seemed like cheating to me - too similar to the other one. It should have a unique one of its own, but I haven't thought of a good one so far. For some reason, I can usually remember that the middle line of the bass clef is D, and the middle line of the Treble Clef is B. I've just thought that the line and 2 spaces between the 2 staves is BCD - Before Christ, Dinosaurs. Or to remember it descending: DCB - Dinosaurs Came Back

Amazing lesson man, I have never learned due to the simplified way of teaching on certain apps, where there are letters instead of notes which makes it more immediate..but not useful for reading music sheets. It is simple to memorize it after all ,and you made it much easier and understandable :) I've got a question regarding the distance of the notes:when you said "one up on the keyboard/one up on the staff" you meant white keys right? Because we are not talking neither about half tones nor tones, otherwise we will end up with sharps. Am I correct or did you mean something different? Thanks a lot for the video and thanks in advance for the answer:)

I’ve made all those mistakes so far! I’m a brilliant student 🤪😂 but well! it’s ok! Those are the most common. I think another mistake I’m making is playing songs by memory which causes me to practice a mistake way to many times until my teacher points out to the wrong note.

I can't see your hands - or what they are pointing to. The keyboard and your hands on it are covered by the staff sheet. Is it not possible to separate the two illustrations, i.e. the keyboard and the staff sheet? I also think your picture should be full. I am a beginner's beginner, so pardon my ignorance.
