@Nature Magnified Thank YOU for making the video (and replying)! Sorry to hear the other colonies didn't work out. I subbed.

Thank you! Yes it did take long. There were two other colonies of different species as well which didn't work out.

I had a queen ant for almost 20 day’s and she layed her first eggs.but hey where all batched up so I assume she wasn’t stressed for all that time I was keeping her.i also checked up on her once a week to see her progress.its day 29 and the larvae has hatched.some have even started spinning in cocoons.

    What do you feed it?

  10. Nature Magnified

    Nature MagnifiedBulan Yang lalu

It doesnt need to be fed. In nature it doesnt eat anything until the worker emerges and then fetches food for the queen. After the workers emerged I kept some honey for it.

Hi I found a queen that looks exactly like that and the workers look the same too. There’s about 21 workers and I’m still not 100% sure what species they are. I know that they are carpenter ants just not sure what type.

  14. Emmanuella Oghene

    Emmanuella Oghene19 hari yang lalu

Your species are Camponotus a.k.a,carpenter ants.they build nest near trees and cut wood and pick up sand to build their nest.hence the name carpenter ants.

  15. Nature Magnified

    Nature MagnifiedBulan Yang lalu

Yes this is a Carpenter ant. However many closely related species exist.

Yeah I was wondering why my first carpenter queen hasn't had workers yet and still in the long larva stage. 2 months huh by ants Canada wow! So I am on 6 weeks I believe because my tetramorium are done which took always a month. Probably 2 more weeks and they should get bigger

Anybody know why my queen ant is scattering eggs?

  22. Emmanuella Oghene

    Emmanuella Oghene19 hari yang lalu

Maybe because your may not be infertile.meaning she didn’t mate when u catched her.or she may be stressed by the light and may need to relocate in the dark.

  31. Emmanuella Oghene

    Emmanuella Oghene19 hari yang lalu

*Theresia * super majors don’t have wings. They have big large heads with medium thoraxes(torso’s) and small gaster sections.the winged princess ants(whom will soon mate with male elates)are elates with big thoraxes and big gaster sections.male elates have big thoraxes but small gaster sections, bad they have small heads compared to queens.

  32. Emmanuella Oghene

    Emmanuella Oghene19 hari yang lalu

The reason why they don’t lay eggs is because they die.and I have a reason why they die.the queen needs to be in a dark place where she would feel calm.and you may have checked up on her too much.once a week is fine.it could also mean she wasn’t infertile.meaning she hasn’t mated.or she’s probably waiting for spring and summer to birth her offsprings.

Peter J. A.2 bulan yang lalu

@Rinliani Pachuau there's always a reason for why she died. U just have to figure out the reason. A healthy queen doesn't just die. U as an ant keeper control all the variables of the ants; it's habitat, what formicarium set up they're in; the food sources, ur the one feeding her; the humidity; the temperature; all those r controlled by u. Did u put her in a test tube with no available food sources?? Was the temperature too hot or too cold? Was their mold or bacteria...???; mold & bacteria will weaken a healthy queen & she'll slowly die. U give no information on the circumstances. U just state that she died.

  35. *Theresia *

    *Theresia *2 bulan yang lalu

@Rinliani Pachuau did she have wings when you caught her? Were you sure she was a queen and not a supermajor? Let's figure out what went wrong so it goed well next time :)

This is an excellent video but maybe you should've went for a more natural set up because though you most deff care for them and wanted them to have the best environment; they seem a bit confused of what's going on

  41. Nomic Games

    Nomic Games5 bulan yang lalu

Also they are spread out I’m not sure if that is okay

  42. fireblade212

    fireblade2124 bulan yang lalu

usually when queens spread there eggs out, the queen is not fertilized. If you notice her trying to escape she definitely isn't. (with spread eggs)

  43. Nomic Games

    Nomic Games5 bulan yang lalu

Hey my eggs are a little yellower than yours should I be worried that she isnt fertilized

  44. Emmanuella Oghene

    Emmanuella Oghene19 hari yang lalu

It’s fine,it means they are ready to hatch out as undeveloped ants.meaning they will be a little white colored due to there larvae stages so your fine.

  54. James Likes Memes

None of these replies make sense. It depends on the genus. Claustral queens do not need food and semi claustral and parasitic queens need food.
