This is the stupidest advice ever. Don’t play the FICO game? That means don’t get a mortgage, don’t get a lease, don’t get an auto loan, don’t get employed. Everyone checks FICO these days and the higher your FICO the better your interest rates and job opportunities.

I understand the ultimate goal, Im not quite there, close, and still working on it. But, even though it may be a corrupt system, wouldn't you pay more by having a 0 fica, like car insurance? Health and life insurance? And, even though the ultimate goal is to be debt free, 95% of the people have to finance a house. Wouldn't it be better to pay all your bills on time, and responsable use of a credit card, pay off each month?

Experian, Transunion, and Equifax are the bureaucrats who only care about profits for the banks and don't have the best interest of the public not to mention the bailouts of banks on the backs of the taxpayer. This "too big to fail" bank policy needs to stop this way the banks would be less likely to lend in risky markets.

I respectfully disagree with Dave. I use credit cards and I never pay interest rates. I am able to build my fico score for free by paying the full balance each month. In addition, all of my cards have $0 annual fees. I am actually saving money & building credit at the same time.

Dave's wealth puts him in a position where his FICO score is not necessary - he can put millions in cash down for whatever he wants. For most of us, we have to have a decent FICO score to rent a decent apartment, get a reasonable rate on a mortgage, rent a car, etc. Its not a measure of success - its a measure of if you pay your bills. I will not be able to plop down 300 - 500K for a house, I'll need a mortgage. Same for health insurance - Dave could pay his way through any medical emergency in cash -a couple hundred thousand in medical bills would not hurt a multimillionaire. For me, I need to have health insurance because I am not able to do that.

I don't think this is a good advise. unfortunately we all normal people needs a Fico Score. But you need to learn how to use a credit card in your favor. After I took Dave's class years ago, I paid all my debts and I never had one again. Also the bank work for me because I use one credit card for everything, I paid the total balance at the end of the month, and the credit card give me miles that I use to travel. Also they pay for car insurance, if I rent one. Once I lost my flight and the credit car reimburse me, for the hotel, uber, meals. I don't pay interest or any annual fee.

Right now 0 sound good to me, if you pay off or pay more then the minimum, that won't improve your score. The only reason for a FICO is to lull you into borrowing more money. I went cash and carry. No more credit. I broke my chains and am now a freeman. If I can't afford it, I don't need it.

Dave can say what he wants, but it is what it is. Apartments. Loans. Credit Cards, New Cars, New House, New Boats, even a good job, all depend on a FICO score. Dave is smart, but he can't change the fact the credit is what America is. And it's great that he can buy an apartment building, but he is one of the minority in this country. Try buying a new car with low credit, or as he said. No credit, most of the time they're going to tell you to take a walk. Dave? Wake up and leave the 19th century.

You can't even buy insurance for cash without the price being manipulated do to a credit score so if you score ain't right they charge you more in essence they have a license to steal so I don't think it's out of line to compare them with a rodent dirty little rats they are... they view us as their personal servant whom they own they trade against our names on Wall Street but never a day's work knowing not labor while we take pride in the road we pave or the machine we build or look at the building we erected & smile.. they only complain and say we should have done it faster while never getting an ounce of dirt underneath their fingernails or even knowing a callus on their hands and even the sweat of their brow they know not for it has never presented itself... looking at things from different angles gives you a new perspective so I asked you all who read this examine this content in your mind even after you have read it and ask yourself what would happen to them if we were not here to serve them or if we refuse to do so... the answer is clear they would fall apart at the seams not knowing how to take care of themselves at all.. and then think what could we be if they were not here and the possibilities fill your heart and mind with joy as then we would truly know life... realizing of course the dirty little rats will also read this information hoping that they read it first and wonder if there servent will become there masters.

Person 2 keeps having bills that are not paid including every 6 months to a different cable company. Don't look at the number look at why the number is the way it is... Person 1 I would rent to. My FICO score is 728 right now. This is what I do . Let's say I'm going to spend 1000 dollars a month. So I make sure that I have it cash and pay it off that way I don't pay interest. Basically I spend my money not theirs.

You do not need to pay interest to get a FICO score! If the normal, average, everyday american wants to ever buy a home, then they need a FICO score. Not everyone will be able to save enough cash to pay cash for a house. I understand paying cash for a car and everything else like taking a vacation, clothes, everyday spending, but paying cash for a house is almost not going to happen for more than half of the american population. I've listened to and agree with most of what Dave says, but this one is just down right condescending.

I help people with their credit on my channel but I've been leaning more to people being debt free because I get a lot of repeat customers and it's the worst, you fix their credit and then get $20k to $40k in funding just for them to come back 1yr later and be in debt again or say, I had some late payments on my account smh the goal is to be debt free and if you have credit cards, they are to be used as emergencies only or save for an emergency fund, love your channel dave🙏🏽🙏🏽💪🏽💪🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

I’m a huge Dave Ramsey fan and I follow all his advice because it works, but this is the only thing I disagree with Dave about. I keep one credit card and use it occasionally and always immediately pay it off just to maintain my credit score. I never pay interest and I always have a zero balance and I am very proud of my credit score. Regardless of what Dave says, the reality is that the vast majority of people need good credit to buy a home. I just don’t see a way around that.

okay folks, if you want to maintain some sort of fico score, just keep one credit card open strictly for small monthly subscriptions and keep the physical card locked up in a safe or filing cabinet at home so you won’t be tempted to use it. if you have a monthly subscription to something such as netflix, spotify, apple music, icloud, etc. charge it to your credit card and set up automatic payments from your checking account to pay the balance in full every month. i have this set up and payoff a balance of merely $15/month. keeps my credit card active and in use, and i don’t use it to buy anything else. this is so doable. control yourself.
