Hirthirt hirtHari Yang lalu
everybody says the LMC-stuff is expensive but at the same time it looks super low quality. Wrinkles everywhere and you have to do half of the fabrications to make it useable although its not universal-stuff. So why do I have to drill and cut so much???
Hirthirt hirtHari Yang lalu
Ups...they carpet-inserts are WAY too large to fit the cutouts of the kickpanels - well, lets move of fast to the next part..... XD

Keep up the good work. I like to say the replacement panels on my truck look very sharp. sure I went to other sources online for some other parts but mainly with the parts I got through here is the best quality on God's green earth. also I like the way you guys take care of wrapping up the parts no damage or whatever. It always seems like every part is over packed

don't know whether to go with the oem dash or aftermarket replacement (not a dash cover). the oem, as noted, has about 14 screws that attach to the defrosting ducts, and a couple of other things, with screws that are UNDER the dashboard and, with the heads facing FORWARD. only way to get those screws in is to remove the dash completely, like this video shows, or remove the defrost ducting completely and then assemble the new dash and the ducting, THEN install them as one unit. (i'm not even sure that that is possible) anyway, the other alternative is to buy a non-oem (aftermarket) replacement dash that does away with even trying to secure the dash to the defrosting ducts (and a few other things), leaving only the 8 or so longish screws at the front the screw into the firewall. they come in shiny black and i imagine are not textured. or i may buy the oem dash and bezel without the inaccessable screws. there are 8 or so at the front an plenty under the bezel and around the air bag. it will be the rattling that i'll be worried about...

Here is a question: Does the height of the fuel line you run, in relation to the tank and fuel pump, mater? To save hassle I'd like to run my new lines over the inner fender to the mechanical fuel pump in my 73 Torino. This rout will bring them over the height of the fuel pump. and back down to it. Does that even matter? Please help.

That wiring mess left under the carpet should have been cleaned up. Excess wiring means more resistance in the wire and more surface area rubbing on the carpet that can lead to a short. It's best to follow the factory wires when possible or run them under the trim panels when possible. And where is the fuse on the positive power leads? The USB port, which also houses a 3.5mm input, should have been placed more centrally in the cab. Imagine plugging in something near your feet, especially something utilizing the 3.5 input. Now you have wire dangling around your feet when you drive.

Interesting, I see LMCTruck's IDreporter Channel has gone the way of Classic Truck Magazine. If you look really hard, page-by-page, you might find some FORD truck tidbit somewhere. I guess I better sell my old truck, I apparently joined the wrong club. Cracks me up. Maybe LMC could throw the poor unfortunate FORD truck owners an extra bone once-in-awhile. Or maybe start an LMC FordTruck channel to put both of your FORD videos on. Back to my Dennis Carpenter catalog. Don't mind me.

I tried using pick and pull seat belts from a Tahoe. What I learned about modern seat belts is they only work from one position/orientation due to being designed with an inertial locking retraction mechanism. It would be difficult to find 3 point retractable seat belts from <my> salvage yard that would work right in a 67-72 Chevy, and I would have been better off to start with an aftermarket option like this in retrospect. I'm sharing this because I wish I would have known.

For a do it yourself guy, it does take the weekend as Keven says. See below for a review and more tips and how long it took me. I didn't rush, and didn't write down fastener positions, remembered the fasteners no problem. obsforddecals@gmail sells 3 stickers for rad support, $27 shipped, very good quality i will be getting these errors : the rad shroud does NOT have 4 bolts, just 2 and then slots into tabs below; the rad itself has MORE than 4 bolts securing it, it also installs onto the 2 studs that project into the center area from the sides of the rad support. The bolt head sizes and locations saved time hunting for them. I should have done a better job labeling them as they came off, maybe writing "1" on the radiator and "1" on a small can with certain fasteners, etc. Did not need a hand to lift any of the parts, rad support is a little akward, but not bad at all. Do put cardboard around a transmission cooler if you added one from a 6.0 (larger). Did not need cardboard on radiator or A/C condensor, which only moved a little bit out of the way on my 1997 250, not as much as in the video. They just dropped the LMC price from $400 to ~$200 for the rad support, quality looks suspect, but would do ok for maybe 5-10 years or maybe more, in a rust state. I actually went from PA to OR on vacation and got a clean used support (took a lot of hunting on Facebook Marketplace), powder coated it for $100, and will seal the weld cracks with 10 year roofing silicone "Through the Roof." A used support from online salvage yard database will be rusty, even out of texas, and run $600 till it is shipped, and will still be rusty. The good ones get creamed and sold locally. There are none in rust state junkyards, they rust... LMC is the only place to get the hardware kit, although I don't know why you would need the special washer with the cross cut out shape, not sure what, if anything, that does, and the weird slot washer may have a purpose. Bushings are good, except threaded upside down and the one nut seized just before it would have drawn down... Place upper bushing in before setting rad support in place. The threads in the LMC mount rubber bushing were upside down, so had to put bolt in from top and nut on bottom, and then.... darn nut seized up about 5 threads from drawing up and now what??? Won't budge with 150# torque on it... Passenger side mount and hardware went on well though. Brackets from LMC seem maybe cheap metal, I coated them with some anti rust paint after sanding very lightly. I replaced power steering lines while in there, and took a cup wheel to the rails and battery trays and oil pan and sandpaper and then spray with industrial hard hat label rustoleum paint. Could change radiator, mine looks real good and was cleaned 3 years ago. Maybe take out light bulbs while the harnesses are laying around, I smashed one when a small impact jostled loose and fell onto the battery tray where the bulb lay. Took me 13 hours to disassemble (including a few minutes to remove trans cooler from 6.0) and power steering lines (line wrenches were very helpful), and including cutting off brackets that attach to frame rail with studs (no threads), cut them with cut off wheel (avoid cutting frame) and then use pneumatic hammer drill to punch out studs. 12 hours to get rust remediation and re-assembled. Will need 2 hours to put on bumper and radiator reinforcement (black plastic "grill" type thing) and grill and lights, and further top off ATF, steering gear ATF, and coolant. So 25 hours for me, with plenty of rust work and a well-equipped shop. The 93 degrees and high humidity and no breeze probably added an hour or 2, it was brutal. 20 hours with no rust removal. Brackets take 1.5 to remove/install and run bolts.
