What I found most interesting is the fact that they new that it wasn’t worth going after the caterpillar showing that they are good tacticians and also that they milk aphids

I feed trapjaw ants natural enemy to protect my family from them. It looks like a very smaller version of bullet ant without sting completely venomless. A bulky muscular ant with the least painful bite and body armour almost like a rhino. I call it gorilla ant. Be careful Trapjaws are deadly even to hooman. I was lucky enough to stay alive when my left foot bitten by one of their winged version when I was little, it felt like hell. Even gorilla ants though slightly bigger always lose one on one. I used to match them in a small closed container to see who was coming on top. It took quite a while for the trapjaw to finally killed the gorilla ant. But ant war is all about many vs many not one on one so the gorilla ants finally dominated all grounds around my house until now and wanna keep it that way forever. The gorilla ants can finally drove away trapjaws because gorillas work together a little bit better than trapjaws not that trapjaws arent working together well. I once saw 8 gorillas swarmed 1 trapjaw to kill it rather quick. Each bitten each trapjaw's six foots and the other two bitten each of trapjaw's long mandibles and teared the trapjaw's body apart.

Meat ants are really cool, I like that they’re so aggressive and I find it really interesting that they attack so much even if it’s bigger than them! I would love to eventually own a meat ant colony! Keep up the great work!

The repletes are just like honeypot ants it looks like. Honeypot ants make nectar they suck from roots of plants and hang from the cieling. They swell up and their abdomens turn yellowish orange. Theyre a delicacy in many places that they're naturally found, a natural candy.

My favourite are these bullants. The reason being, I used to catch them as a kid and watch them in my mum's kitchen containers. They have always been my favourite ants but also my least favourite, because they sting so badly.

  33. author

    Nautilus10 hari yang lalu

I used to get stung by the big reddy brown ones as a kid I used to catch them and watch them but a few times, of get stung... Pretty painful. Crushed moist eucalyptus leaves rubbed on the sting was supposedly a remedy but I don't know if it worked or if it was my belief in it working that it would help. They're cool ants but I hate em!!! After a few stings, 10 year old me grew to fear them lol

Eyyy jordan, epic video again, the segregation of various ant queens could be due to small diff in genetics. Closely-related queens tend to live together to help propagate their own genetics. Im sure you might already know this but just in case. (This is also observed in bee colonies where workers who share both parents tend to form sub-grps in one colony-thus having each grp providing extra care to specific grps of brood) P.S: pls correct me if the phenomena is a completely diff one

Dear Jo, as you regularly ask if we want more videos, what subjects we may need or wish, how-, when-, where-, what-, who-, w***-, w*****, etc... -about, I see a 3 months gap and realize my opinion may be of some encouragement. So YES I want more videos. When? Now. ASAP. I mean this question is pointless, I have no authority on you and no legitimacy to tell you what you should do. But just be aware how precious are your videos for us. So "when" is pointless as answer will always be ASAP as long as you take pleasure into it. And for Ants YES it is precious! The more people will understand Ants, the more ants will be taken care of (real meaning, not "taken care of", that's the point!) So "what" is not a question to me so much neither. If I had an advice it would be : please show close-up of ants to help people watching see the emotions of the ants. They are really complex creatures, seeing is what lack most for people. So if you can learn to catch ants feelings on camera, in close-up views, then you'll get the most important think to my mind. After that, whatever is the official subject of the video is pretty much OK and the same as it's second to the main point. We sure love to learn things about ants species. So the most you explore the best. No matter what order or pretext you choose. Just do the most simple for you, the most accessible with easy work first, then it will all come naturally. I really hope you can make more videos. Your pronunciation and talking is very nice to hear, you always chose right words, fine explanations, so there is possibly no advice I could add as you already does a VERY GOOD JOB. Even en EXCELLENT JOB. I just want more of it whatever it is you feel giving us, the most easy for you and fast, the best, so it's naturally coming from the closer subject to the next... You need no "ask for" to talk about whatever you know interesting... And then your own experience will improve too so you'll be an even better narrator, movie maker etc. Just do it! We really are only waiting for more and more I promise you success and satisfied followers.

7:21 three queen argentina ants that are not really very happy about the merging... Probably guessing their own imminent execution... It was better for them when the test tube was isolated. Not perfect, as their life span is shorter than any other queen ant species, but still having some time... But now the new "friends" are going to judge them and probably kill them as there are going to be more effective queens in the supernest. But whatever queen they are, worker ants decided the merging. Not consulting them. Poor rich queens :)

The thing I find most interesting about meat ants is the sheer effect they can have on the environment around them! I spotted a nest while working the other day and in addition to the large cleared area for the nest itself it had two large 'highways' leading away from it. One of which broke even further into two trails! Such an industrious species.
