I broke down when she used that bathroom door as a barrier to avoid hurting her little girl. She knew she had no self control so she removed herself from the situation. The husband is more abusive than the Momma. She wanted nothing more than to get help and he wouldn’t allow it. That’s abusive. He was more worried about his imagine that he was about his own family.
I was physically and mentally abused my entire childhood. I struggled with this after I had my son. I knew I didn’t want the cycle to continue but I felt powerless to stop it. My counselor and I worked really hard at uncovering the real underlying issues and worked through them. With that help I was able to raise my son in a home with no abuse.

Oh, what a surprise, another film depicting Christians as prudes and neurotics. This doctor thinks everyone is sexually repressed, and women are frigid - and he's bashing "Puritan" ethics? Really?

Considering that this was Ladd's first made for TV movie, she did an outstanding job. Her willingness to tackle this role and the consequential emotional tax, was daring. They gave her holy hell on Charlie's Angels [because of her looks], attacking her for not being a "serious" actress. They did the same thing to Farrah, as well as Marilyn Monroe. They tortured Marilyn to death for not being "serious" enough, when the writer/director of "Bus Stop," said that she was the most brilliant actress of her time. Perhaps in all of the history of cinema.

I feel sorry for all parties. I think everyone including the kid has a problem. The kid projects onto the dolls and has anti-social behavior just like the mom. This is probably a sign that A-this has been an issue for a while or B- They both have some sorta psychological issue. Children throw temper tantrums but not the way this kid does. And I’m sure the father would like to help more but it seems like he was neglected as a kid considering his mom threw more focus onto his sisters. Not to mention his bog with work. Overall this is just a sad family.

If I have to keep my rating to 10 stars . . . I'll go with 12. What was especially great was how they filmed the match scenes. They actually filmed at Wimbledon and with a real live crowd! Most movies just have cheap, mock-up sets that vaguely resemble an actual sporting event/arena. This movie made it seem like it was really happening.

Still watching in January 2020 This movie is supposed to be based on a real life 1970's-1993 drug rehab. Very tame in comparison to the real thing. How do I know that? Survivor. Straight Incorporated April 1990 - November 1990 Totally forgotten by today's news. Miss Nancy Cartwright is in this movie, she also plays the voice of Bart Simpson. 😮 Michigan, USA

The woman who plays the Psychiatrist is the same woman who played DATA's Mom in Star Trek: The Next Generation. I knew I recognized her from somewhere. Also, Christopher Reeve is SO handsome and TALL!! Superman is supposed to save people not kill them! Seriously, he is such a good actor. He plays demented so well. In real life, though, he was so kind and nice. I never met him....I never will. I love him and miss him.

George (played by Christopher Reeve, is NOT the Killer and Crista (the Mother's Child) may be a suspect, here is why: • George was in instant shock at the news about his step daughter and ran semi nude to get her and dived into the water, whereas Crista stood there in dry grassy land afraid to get wet and only did acting tears. • Crista made love right after the kid died, sure George did the tango too. However, men's thing have a life of its own and women do sex by choice and WILLINGLY. In this case, she had sex without thinking twice. • George got perplexed as he commented "I thought I lost you?" Because technically, sane mothers would break up their marriage with the spouse due to the child's death that leads to trauma, and she did not feel or appear traumatized as a "grieving" parent. • Every time she see's a child, she flips and has a psychotic episode • Crista is not right in the head before and after that accident • we are made to focus on George to not see the real killer • Crista had hallucinations and got worse • George knows she needs help • she hates being evaluated • Crista is fascinated by death and what her dead daughter's skin looks like ????? Yes! Really! • Crista tried to frame George for murder without proof of solid evidence except a watch which fell from his wrist into the water caught some of the girls hair. The gold chain is her possession all this time. • Crista uses a weird psychiatrist so to hear what she wants and Dr Neigberg quoted "rich people like to pay to hear, volia! psychiatry". • Cannot rely on lie detectors, they do get passed and Crista is answering the wrong and most useless questions. • scientific fact; men have less stress receptors than women and inclined towards exploding in anger to relieve stress, so that does not confirm he is a violent killer, however his lawyer should have told his client to remain calm at all times as the defendant. • George is found not guilty but had a breakdown • Crista wants to run away to change her name??? Why? For what? Plus, she still thinks her dead daughter still speaks to her, Crista kills George because she regrets her marriage and lies are not convincing enough. Conclusion: Crista murdered her Daughter and Husband and is on the run.

This movie kind of reminds me of Mommie Dearest. For you younger people watching this, that movie is about a real person who was a famous film actress, Joan Crawford (portrayed by Faye Dunaway), who had emotional problems she took out on her daughter, Christina. The movie was based on the heartbreaking autobiography of Christina Crawford.

Good film. I'm gutted that I don't look like Christopher Reeve. Talking with the departed is commonplace and it doesn't matter if it's real or not - it's real because we do it. Such is life and if your shrink says different - sack (USA - fired). Paul McCartney saw a white squirrel, he said it was his Linda come to tell him it's OK, she's OK, he's OK. And it is OK. We've all seen things, heard things. Good film.

A lovely movie. I did have to smile, though, when they let the “German” teacher speak a few words of German, and you realize that putting on a fake accent isn’t everything, if they don’t bother to find out how to say things correctly in German 😁

This film, like stated in the opening, is based on true events. On March 24th a penn central freight train heading through congers (on the present day river line owned by CSX) crashed into a school bus killing five students. Various moments in the film were based on the days following the congers wreck. The church scene where the locomotive horn can be heard happened in real life, and the way the train hit the bus was in a similar fashion to the actual accident.
